Fred Moten—Duke University Helen L. Bevington Professor of Modern Poetry and acclaimed author of In the Break: The Aesthetics of the Black Radical Tradition (2003)— moderates a discussion with Jamal Cyrus, Steffani Jemison, Harold Mendez and Taisha Paggett to launch their participation in perFOREmance / february. Building off of Moten’s groundbreaking contributions to performance studies, theories of improvisation and the history of the interdisciplinary black avant-garde, this discussion brings together three artists who have collaborated with one another and will present new performance-based works for Fore.
